Non uniform day Friday 16th November  for children in need - we will be collecting donations to send to Pudsey bear.

Along with settling back into routines after the holiday - the children have been trying really hard sharing and taking a turn - this is a key skill to master as they change and begin to develop an understanding of others needs - it takes time, patience and space to deal with the concept of waiting for a turn but they are all doing really well and you should be very proud of them all.

Week commencing 8th October 2018

We have been enjoying the autumn warmth and sunshine this week in the outdoor area

The adults in 2s sensitively support the children to play alongside and with each other to enable beginning friendships to blossom.  The children's personal and social development is a major part of the learning each day and the children make such big step between being 2 and being 3.

We have been dancing, singing and playing instruments inside and out this week.  Hearing and joining in different songs and rhymes is part of developing skills for speaking and listening and is lots of fun too!  Using instruments in different ways is part of early phonics and listening skills.

Click this link for one of our favourite songs    Dingle Dangle Scarecrow

Week commencing 1st October 2018

"Big chef, little chef" - This week in nursery we have been baking buns, we have had lots of fun taking turns to weigh, to mix and to stir to create the tasty treats.  The children have been supported to develop their language,  to talk about what they can see happening and to notice the change from dry to wet ingredients.  Why not have a go at making buns at home

You will need

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 8 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup  sugar
  • a pinch of salt

Heat the oven to Gas mark 4 or 180'C

Mix the flour and salt together and leave to the side

Mix the butter and sugar till light and fluffy

Slowly add the egg a little at a time and mix well

Gently stir in the flour mixture

Divide the mixture into 12-14 bun cases

Bake for 10-12 minutes

Ice and decorate your buns and enjoy

Do let us know if you bake at home and add a picture or message to your child's Tapestry learning journal.

Week commencing 24th September 2018

This week we have been enjoying the Autumn sunshine, together we explored the big garden collecting leaves, gathering sticks and looking for 'garden treasure'.

We have used familiar and new words to extend the children's  vocabulary,  talking about what we could see, feel, hear and smell.

The children used their 'garden treasure' to create pictures in the gluing and painting area - take a look in nursery at our Autumn display wall.

Week commencing 17th September 2018
