 Class 5 Blog

October

In PE, we have been focusing on our athletics skills, in particular - throwing. We learnt the best stance for distance throwing; starting with the weight on your back foot and pushing forward to maximise the distance. We even got to use the foam javelins!

We had an exciting time in class today learning about what happened in an air raid. We learnt about gas masks and how they protected people during the war - we even got to try a real one on!

We created a blackout in the classroom; closing the blinds and turning off all the lights to recreate the atmosphere that people lived in during the attacks. We also learnt about what children would do if the alarm sounded while at school - they would quickly and quietly hide under their tables to keep them safe. We even reenacted this with a few false air raid sirens!

It was fantastic to see all the children engaged and asking inquisitive questions!

Our topic for Wellbeing Wednesday this term is 'kindness'. Today's session focused on recieving kindness and how it makes us feel. To explore this, we created a fortune teller for someone else in the class and filled it with kind and positive phrases to spread kindness and happiness around. After, we gave them to each other and it was lovely to see the happiness spread across the classroom as the children read the kind things that others said about them.

September

We had our first brass music session with our new music teacher Mr Roberts this month. Mr Roberts told us about the different instruments we are going to be using and taught us how to use and hold them correctly. We even got to play along to some music! Have a watch and a listen to the video.

Well done Class 5 - you showed great focus and really persevered!
