14/07/17 - WAGOLL STAR

Zaynab, you have impressed the adults in maths this week - your attitude and the independence you demonstrated during our work on symmetry was excellent - well done!

10/07/17 - Visit to Windermere, The Lake District

Class 4 had the most amazing time on their school trip today. While it may have been raining in Swinnow when we set off , we were greeted by glorious sunshine when we got to The Lakes. The children were awe-struck by the sheer beauty of the area and couldn't believe how different the environment was to the one they are used to. Staff at Brockholes were full of praise for the children; they displayed excellent behaviour and impressed everyone with the things they had already learnt back in school. During the workshop they answered questions showing a deep understanding of the effects of tourism and during the trail they asked excellent probing questions. Well done everybody, you were a credit to yourselves and our school, thank-you for a lovely day!

Take a look at the gallery of photographs.

28/06/17 Literacy

This week in literacy we have been learning how writers use language to show character's emotions. This technique is called 'show not tell'. We've had a go at using it in our own writing. Here's some excellent examples:

"I could not believe what I had been told.  My beloved dog, Woody, had passed away.  My head hung low as tears rolled down my face.  My body was trembling as I gave my mum a hug and wiped my tears away."  Harvey

"I stood rooted to the spot as the fox began to creep towards me.  Goosebumps started to rise on my skin and holding my breath, my body started to shake..."    Ben

"I was then I realised my heart was giving up on me.  I shivered as I stepped back step by step, as the black shadow was approaching me every time I moved.  My body couldn't move one more bit.  My feet were stuck to the floor.  My ears were ringing with fear and my teeth were clacking together..."                        Olivia
